King County, WA Superior Court Local Rules Amendments Oncoming

After a recent vote by the Judges of the King County Superior Court, a number of local rules amendments are set to go into effect as of September 1st, 2019. The King County Superior Court Clerk’s Office has alerted that perhaps the most significant of these changes was made to Local Mandatory Arbitration rule 2.1.

From the Clerk’s Announcement:

“Please note a significant rule change included in this packet:  The amendment to LMAR 2.1 includes an increase to the dollar limit of claims in civil cases transferred to arbitration.  The limit moves to $100,000 for all civil cases filed on or after September 1, 2019.”

The other amendments variously apply to General, Civil, Family, Law, and Mental Proceeding rules. For a full overview of the amendments and how they change the local rules, check out the King County Superior Court website HERE.
